Jill Taylor
Jill Taylor’s Beyond The Surface series is a deeply personal exploration of her emotional response to the Australian Bush, a landscape that left her in awe of its force and energy. Her paintings are direct reactions to the environment, seeking to capture its raw power and the vibrant sensations it evoked. Jill enjoys working on multiple pieces at once, experimenting with mixed media to create layered, dynamic compositions. She begins her process by playing with colour and texture, using bold and rough elements to uncover the intricate surprises that give each painting its own distinct character. Jill’s work is fluid and spontaneous; she lets the paintings develop organically, trusting that the process will guide her to unexpected, yet powerful outcomes. For Jill, painting is a journey of discovery—an evolving exploration where each piece brings new revelations, often requiring emotional honesty to truly capture the essence of a mood or feeling. Her passion for art is driven by the thrill of these moments of surprise and serendipity. Jill holds a BTEC in Surface Pattern Design from Jakob Kramer College, Leeds, and a Fine Art qualification from the Academie Minerva in Groningen, The Netherlands.
