Maxine Owen

Maxine Owen is a mixed media and fine artist based in rural Bedfordshire with over 30 years of experience. Specialising in vibrant, tactile textile art, Maxine is best known for her innovative use of recycled materials, often transforming discarded, unloved, and vintage textiles into new surfaces. Through techniques such as paint, stitch, knit, print, and embellishment, Maxine creates richly layered, textured works that invite both visual and tactile engagement. Her work is deeply influenced by her life experiences, travels, and the world around her, with each piece telling a unique story shaped by memory, place, or personal reflection. Maxine is driven by a passion for experimentation, constantly exploring new methods and pushing the boundaries of her medium. Her work is dynamic and playful, often challenging traditional notions of textile art while exploring its rich history and potential. Exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, Maxine has cultivated a dedicated following of collectors who appreciate the depth, creativity, and emotional resonance in her work. In addition to her creative practice, Maxine also shares her knowledge and expertise through lecturing, workshops, and commissions, continually fostering her connection to the wider art community.
